Miami Open 2023 Women’s 1st Round

The start of the fight in Florida was the debut of a dream for an experienced Ukrainian. Tsurenko started confidently and with two breaks quickly took a promising lead (4:0). However, the opponent not only managed to recover. Fernandez won 6 (!) games in a row, in particular, three on the serve of a 33-year-old opponent, and closed the set.

In the second installment, the struggle has already become fierce. The exchange of breaks and their own successful serves led to an equal score in the middle of the set – 3:3. But then the game of the Ukrainian tennis player was upset again.

The Canadian took two games in a row, putting the squeeze on Tsurenko on the pitch of the Ukrainian. The ninth game was tense. The veteran played a match point against 20-year-old Fernandez, and then twice was close to a break. However, she did not take the decisive draw and lost to the representative of Canada.

Previously, Kostyuk started with a win over Cocciaretto in straight sets. The Italian took only 5 games over two games. In the next round, the Ukrainian tennis player is forced to face the Russian Potapova.

By the way, on the eve of the Tennis Federation of Ukraine reacted to the accusation of the NOC in competition with representatives of the Russian Federation and Belarus.
