Former multi-organization world champion Anthony Joshua defeated Finn Robert Helenius at London’s O2 Arena.
The 33-year-old Briton won the battle ahead of schedule. The referee stopped the fight in the seventh round when the Finnish boxer was on the floor after a strong blow from his opponent.
In the opening rounds, Joshua and Helenius were put on guard. But gradually the British boxer seized the initiative and began to put pressure on the Finn. Helenius tried to counterattack, but missed a blow to the chin, ended up on the convoy and could not recover.
The 39-year-old Finnish boxer had his second fight within a week. After fighting compatriot Mielonen on August 5, he became an emergency replacement for Dillian Whyte against Joshua. The Briton failed a doping test in a matter of days before entering the ring.
Joshua is trying to return to the top heavyweight after two losses from Oleksandr Usyk. The Briton lost the WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO and The Ring championship belts to the Ukrainian. In winter, he can enter the ring against the star American Wilder.
