The transformation of the broadcaster is progressing: the aim is to attract older television viewers who are still interested in linear television.
US network The CW announced that it will air the upcoming 2023 season of the LIV Golf League as part of the network’s previously announced multi-year exclusive broadcasting agreement with the golf league. LIV Golf’s first official season will air on both CW and Nexstar-operated stations in key markets such as Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Tampa and Hartford.
“The CW Network is preparing to launch the first live sports broadcast in its history, and we are thrilled to bring this innovative and reimagined competition to viewers across the country,” said Dennis Miller, President of The CW Network. “By leveraging the nationwide reach of our partners and the strength of Nexstar channels, The CW has positioned itself as the go-to channel for mainstream live sports for many years.
Beginning with the first tournament on February 24th and 26th in Mayakoba, Mexico, all 14 global LIV Golf League events will be broadcast exclusively on The CW Network’s linear and digital platforms on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Friday rounds broadcast on The CW app.
In conjunction with today’s announcement, LIV Golf has launched a new campaign, 12 Teams. You Choose” – a new campaign urging fans to choose their team ahead of the landmark LIV Golf League season. The lineups for the 2023 season, featuring twelve teams and 48 of the best players in the world, will be announced this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with four teams announced each day.
